The Baha’i House of Worship
Wilmette
Architects Madsen, Kneppers & Associates, Inc., a team of contractors, craftsmen and countless others all played a part in a program carefully planned and executed under the leadership of Robert F. Armbruster, Director of the Temple Restoration Group. The restoration needed to address persistent problems with innumerable water leaks and significant deterioration of the highly ornamental concrete and the underlying structural concrete. Three years of engineering investigation, structural design, materials development and equipment fabrication preceded four years of intricate construction. Award judges were impressed with the enormity of this project and the strong degree of collaboration between the project managers and the numerous contractors, calling it “…a model for other religious institutions.”
