Lifetime Commitment Award

Leslie H. Kenyon

Peoria

Trained as an architect at the University of Michigan, Kenyon has worked tirelessly for over forty years promoting the merits of historic preservation in both his words and actions. As principal and founder of the architectural firm Kenyon & Associates, he has completed over seventy-five preservation projects throughout his admirable career. Three projects in which Kenyon has been the principal architect have been honored in previous Driehaus Award ceremonies. The jury’s selection of the Menard County Courthouse restoration for a 2004 award will increase that tally to four. In addition to his architectural preservation services, Kenyon has acted as President of the Central Illinois Landmarks Foundation for three decades. The jury recognized that, through a combination of advocacy work, imaginative solutions and a selfless dedication of time and resources, “Les Kenyon has played a major role in the preservation of countless historic Illinois structures.”
